You mean Ed Trice? I heard he died. So how can anyone ask him anything?

You do realize that the Camel and Amazon piece exist, right? The letters would conflict in other variants

Missing the point entirely.

Someone replaying a Gothic Chess game needs C and A.

Who cares if other variants have pieces that start with C and A?

Not me.

And if someone playing double-hump-camel chess doesn't realize C in that game is for Camel, maybe they lack the brains to be playing any such game at all.

C and A are needed for Gothic notation.

They're not in there.

This site has it wrong. Period. End. You lose. I win.

No way you roasted him with coding💀

Hi, I’m not sure if this has been proposed before but I would really love it if we can draw arrows on mobiles/phones. It may be a far etched idea as it may be hard to come up with a specific way that allows arrows to be drawn on mobiles. Anyways, I was thinking that there could be an enable/disable arrows setting, with “enabled” automatically on if this actually becomes a real thing. This way, it will prevent from accidentally drawing arrows when on a mobile. In addition, you can draw arrows when you press down (for 3-5 sec?) on the piece or square and then slide your finger to the other piece or square for the arrow to appear. Also maybe if you double tap on a piece or square, that will make a circle. This way, it allows players to play team based variants even if they are on mobile.

On the other hand, I do recognize the potential setbacks such as during a “time scramble”, where the arrows may take time to be actually drawn. It may also be hard to find a way to make the system distinguish when someone is trying to draw the arrow, or when they’re just simply trying to make a move. In the end, I feel like having arrows on mobiles would be cool.

@MphieZ drawing arrows on computer already takes up time, so it does not matter if it is time-consuming. I suggest to set it up with an in-game button that can be turned on and off, where sliding the finger draws an arrow from one square to another.

Suggestion: Many people, including me, will want to practice certain skills in variants with fairy pieces, so I suggest the ability to search for FFA or Teams variant by the compositions of Tactical, Dynamic, Positional, Materialistic or Strategic. I struggled to find Positional games.

It would be great to have a dropdown menu for variants, time controls and ranking lists.

Isn't that what we already have? Can you elaborate?

I suggest ZEN mode just like lichess.org has, to help us ignore ratings of players during rated games outside of variants that involve GhostBoard.

Another feature I would add is the ability to bookmark games like #68870000 on the variants server. I was attracted to the number and player ratings.

Please look at my earlier suggestions if not yet seen, and ideas for new spells I came up with today:

  • Double-Mover: Cast this spell on any piece to allow it to move like normal twice as long as its first move is not a capture. Kings/royals cannot pass through check using this spell, just like in castling. This spell can also be useful for passing a move to create zugzwang in certain variants.
For example, casting this spell on a knight will, if not obstructed in any of the eight single-move directions, be able to move to up to 33 different squares (I will post a diagram later).
Some pieces will, however, get too powerful this way, so there should be choice for which of them are not allowed to have this power.
  • Cannonball: This gives a certain piece a power to explode any enemy pieces on squares adjacent to its landing spot outside of Atomic. The piece can still be blown up by an opposing cannonball, with the opposer not losing his/her piece.

I suggest changing the Minihouse dim to 6x6 to make it more mobile-friendly.

how would this make it more mobile friendly

Makes it larger

The playing board will be about 50% larger

8x8 with invisible bricks

6x6

I think there should be an option for a board with hexagons instead of squares, in the shape of a hexagon. I think that would be more conducive to allowing symmetric 3 player positions than a board with squares as 6 is divisible by 3 while 4 is not. The board could look something like this, with the standard pieces being as shown.

I agree. If this idea is added, I suggest we also create a standard 6 Player Chessboard and, if possible, 12 Player.

If 6 player chess is added then we could have two types of team games in 6 player chess, 3 teams of 2 or 2 teams of 3. 3 teams of 2 could be like a cross between teams and FFA, as each individual would have a teammate, but there would be 3 teams and so it would be a free for all between the 3 teams. There could be a point system when there’s 3 teams of 2, and checkmating one player could cause a team to be eliminated like in 4 player team variants. There could also be a teams takeover, in which the checkmating player gets the pieces of the player they checkmated, and their teammate gets the pieces from the other player on the checkmated team who was not personally checkmated.
