1600 daily - Let's go!
Vegetablevoice's 30-day Challenge
Day 2 - played Tomas-the-bot. This morning, I blundered a rook - twice. It was maybe time to take a break after that. A few rounds of Puzzle Rush confirmed that I'm having a blind spot with Queens on diagonals. This evening, I returned to Tomas and won - a few mistakes, but no blunders.
That was a very solid game against Tomas. I like how you took the material when he blundered and continued to play solid in the conversion process.
Thanks! On review I noticed a lot of places where I had better moves, but relatively few where I risked giving the game away.
Day 3 is supposed to be a lesson, but I'm out of lessons for the moment (I think they reset tomorrow). So instead I watched Top 8 Chess mistakes, which is a handy little list. Most of them I don't do (I learned "control the center" and "don't bring your queen out too early" when I first picked up the game), and "watch out for traps" is so vague as to be useless. But as a quick-n-dirty checklist to guide review, I could see it being helpful.
On Day 4 my lessons reset, so I did the intermediate lessons on Using Pawns, Having Your Pieces Work Together, and Pawn Promotion (which were supposed to be Day 3).
'cuz why not? My goal is to get to 1600 daily rating before my birthday in 2023 - I've been stuck for a while and would like to move forward. This is also my first year as a chess.com premium member, so I'm kinda jumping in with both feet - I'm hoping this kind of structure will be helpful.
