Vote Chess Guidelines

I propose we use the following guidelines in out vote chess games.  They have been working well for me in Burning Pawns, Chess Unlimited, and several smaller groups I am the admin for Vote Chess in.  Any objections, comments, proposed changes?  This is YOUR group.  all input will be seriously considered.  Here they are:

First read the team comments. IF necessary, check on the moves archive to learn about previously defined strategies.

- Please do not cast your vote until a consensus about the best move is reached or as general rule never before 8-10 hours before deadline.

- Please check "Notify me of new comments" (on the upper-right corner of the comments field)

so you will receive alerts everytime someone posts a new proposal here and consequently you will be able to compare with yours.

- If you find a really good move, post it here (it would be better if you also post the complete variation you are proposing) but don't vote on your own as probably that move won't be chosen.

- Above all, enjoy the game. Respect the opinions and proposals written by others and reply with your own proposals. Spend time reading all the comments, probably you might have the chance to learn something new or at least you will have fun interacting with different players.

Cheers!

We also need a lot more discussion in our Vote Chess games. Don't be shy - any idea is good for discussion!

Also, we just lost a VC game by time out.  That should never happen!  For a while then, I propose we make all our VC games at least 2 days between moves and the first person who opens a fresh move should vote for a move and post that he/she did so.  Then, NO ONE ELSE VOTE until we arrive at a consensus for the best move.  This way, we will be assured of not timing out but will have plenty of time to arrive at a consensus as a team for the best possible move.   After we get a good process going, we will then eliminate this first vote rule and all will wait for a group consensus before they vote.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Criticisms?  Good idea?  Bad idea?  Better ideas?  All input will be considered and appreciated; no input is bad input.

Cheers, mates!  (I love  that word, 'mate.' We don't get to use it in the U.S.)

Thanks much, Leth, our glorious leader!  May I have a gin and coke now?  LOL.  Who drinks gin and coke anyway?  Well, I do!  And gin and Mountain Dew, gin and orange soda, gin and apple juice (if  that's all we have in the house), gin and gin.....

I also think we should have a goal for vote chess.  Since we have never won a game yet, I propose this as our current single goal:

Let's win a vote chess game!

LOL.

We could win one fairly quickly by choosing a short amount of time between moves, but that's not a good idea right now since we just lost one by time out.  Perhaps when we get a regular team together that covers all time zones we'll do that, but not yet.

Maybe one day when I KNOW I'm going to be a real slug and sit watching TV with my notebook in front of me for 12 hours, I'll do a 10 min. game, I dunno.  Any thoughts?  I realize this group has not been big on vote chess, and that's perfectly fine if you simply do not like vote chess.  But I encourage  those of you who do to start participating a lot more.  It doesn't take much time.

Cheers, mates!

One more thought:  This is Cheers!  We KNOW we all drink. LOL.  So we don't expect miracles.  I hear though that in some bars in Serbia, people bet real money on chess games, being 3 sheets to the wind!  I also hear that fights quite often ensue.  LOL.  By 'I hear' I mean one Serbian I played told me this, so I don't actually know. LOL.

May I have a Gimlet, please?  A gin one, not a vodka one, although I guess a vodka one will do too!  ;-)
