Here's the List of groups. There may be a couple that I've missed. If you know of any more, let me know and I will add them. VC means Vote hess in progress and TM means Team Matches in progress, just to show how active they are.
There are 38 groups in the list but not all of them are suitable, for example 3 of the groups only have one member and some teams are represented by more than one group. I think that only one should be admitted. Also there are a couple of national teams. I don't know if you think they should be admitted, (personally I think that's for another league in the future). I counted about 25 teams that would qualify. If we could get 10 of those teams to join then we'd have a decent league.
I found a group last night called TVC Champions League that's trying to start a vote chess league. It's not very well organised. It doesn't even say what format it will take. Click on the link and you'll see what I mean.
Below I will explain the format that I think this league should take. Let me know what you think.
Ok. The format for this league will be very simple being based on the Premiership.
Participating teams will play each other twice. 1 black and 1 white (home and away).
The points system will be the same as the premiership. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss.
The tiebreak will be worked out the same way as for regular chess.com tournamentshttp://www.chess.com/tournaments/help.html#tiebreak
The fixtures will be spread out over a season the same way as the premiership.
I'm not sure on how many day's per move should be set. If it's one day per move there will be more time-outs. The smaller the team, the more chance of that happening. If it's 3 day's per move the league will take an incredibly long time to complete. Maybe it could be set at 3 day's maximum but it can shortened if both teams agree between themselves. Anyway, I think this will have to be discussed by participating teams.
I think that ten teams should be the maximum for the league. If more than ten want to take part, then it should be split into 2 leagues. At the end of the first season the top half of each league will go into the first league, called the Premiership and the bottom half of each league will go into the second league called the Championship. At the end of each season thereafter, the top of the championship will be promoted to the Premiership, and the bottom of the premiership will be demoted to the Championship.
That's it basically. What do you think?
I think we should include all teams and make it an international league. It would be a shame to leave out Boca Juniors and Olympiacos etc. Here's a list of all the teams I think we should invite.
Well, having cup in the name suggests that it's a Knockout tournament and this is a league, and having European in the name suggests that it's just for European teams whereas boca juniors are a South American team, and champions vote chess league sounds too much like the other group (see earlier post).
What about International Football Teams Vote Chess League, or something with international in it?
Yes, that will do, I.F. Vote Chess league for short. Anyway sleep on it and see if we can think of anything better. We can set the new group up tomorrow.
Yes, that's good Dan. Also try to find a suitable background picture and colours for the home page. Or maybe just colours I'll leave it up to you. If you leave it to me I'll probably choose claret and blue with a picture of Bobby Moore.
Dan, can we call it Association Football Vote Chess League, Alternatively we could call it Association football groups (AFG) we could have AFG at the top of the logo and vote chess cup at the bottom. I think it should have groups in the name because it describes it better. Or maybe if you don't like the word 'Groups' in the title we could call it just Association Football Vote Chess League. It might be appropriate for this site seeing as it's American. Anyway I like the sound of Association Football Vote Chess League. Also If we decide in the future to have just an English competition, we'd have to change the name because it will no longer be international. What do you think?
Ok Dan. There is a list of teams in the other forum but it's old and it's only for British teams. I'll compile a new list and post it here
