Vote Chess
Vote chess game #16 is at an interesting position right now.
If anybody wants to take time to study and read the comments, we can use the help. But remember, if you don't take time to study your vote probably won't be helpful.
And if you are a new member and are unsure what (if any) vote chess games to join, be aware of these things,
We have 6 games going now. Four are 2 days per move. Two, games 15 and 16, are 24 hours per move.
Games 17 and 18 are early into the game.
We can start a new game anytime enough members want a new game.
Remember that we like to discuss moves before we vote.
Another victory !!! We just won game Vote Chess #15! That is extra cool. We have now won 10 in a row after losing our first 3.
We won over France/Deutschland Group. They actually played a strong game. They talked plenty and said in their discussion that people should not vote before they discuss moves. Our advantage over them was that we had a few players stronger than theirs, and we had more players. It was a close game, but we did put a lot of pressure on them and around move 26 they started to crack and resigned after our move 29.
Good job to all who played for us in that game!
If you want to review the game, you can find it from our vote chess main page.
With another game finished and two more getting late into the game, we may start a new vc game soon. Here's a reminder, if we get white we want to play 1. d4 this game. We played e4 last time......
Then you better start that game with 1. d4 already played, because as long as I do get a vote there is no way it ends up being for 1.d4. Not even if I was lying helplessly attached to life support and someone was holding a gun to my head.
Some of us are fanatical about their football team, I am fanatical about an opening move *waves around 1.e4 flag*
Play a strong opening, not a funny one!
I think playing the Alekhine Defense again sounds like a good idea, but we should wait and focus on the other vote chess games we are playing.
Surely we have enough people to support two more games. Our d4 players have yet to get to play their opening......
It hasn't been alternating. When we have white, it has been e4 four games in a row.
That is not counting the game that only went 3 moves.
Yea that was all that was asked. If we play e4 two or three times in a row, give the d4 people a shot.
Setting aside the discussion of e4 vs d4, we have over 700 members and only 5 vc games. It seems that with 700 members we can play at least 7 games.
I don't think it's fair to say to those who want to start a game that they must "wait till I am ready".
Here is a quick look at how we are doing in different vote chess games - somewhat subjective.
Game #13 we are not losing, but our position isn't real good.
Game #14 we should win this one. We are ahead the exchange plus we have pair of Bishops against their pair of knights.
Game #16 is late in the game and we are a little better - rook and bishop and 4 pawns for us, knight and bishop and 3 pawns for them.
Game #17 early but we are a little better.
Game #18 also early, pretty even so far.
Game #20 just got started.
If anyone wants to join a game we will be glad to have you! Just remember to read comments and discuss before you vote, please.
Here's an update.
In vote chess games #13 and #14 we are pretty good and should win those two (fingers crossed). Game #16 is drawish. We definately should not lose, we may win, but it may end up a draw.
In newer games, game #18 they blundered early and we should win that one. Games #17, #19, and #20 are still early in the game.
Also we were challenged by The Power of Chess for a new vc game, but I declined because it was a 3 days per move game. I was polite and said thanks, but told them that 3 days per move is not for us.
I am very happy that we won game #13. We beat a good team.
One of their Admins is a National Master, and he did help in the game. They had two guys who commented on almost every move. For most moves they had 6-8 votes. Of the four or five people who did comment in the game, it seems that all were rated 1900 or higher except for one guy. He was rated around 1568. He suggested the blunder that lost the game for them, but after his suggestion, the move got 4 votes.
Is there a lesson here? Probably more than one.
Taking time for real discussion wins in vote chess! Early voting loses.
They had two or thee comments for most moves, but their comments were mostly "I like move X" and the next guy would give a vote total. They rarely had an in depth discussion of moves like we did on EVERY move. We also had more players than they did. I have seen in the past that the team with the most active players usually wins.
Good job to all. We probably made a couple of weak moves, but we played hard and never gave up. We kept focus when they lost focus. They lost focus and lost the game.
It was a good win.

Here's a reminder, or just a note, for new vc players.
We encourage everyone to discuss possible moves before you vote. Don't vote before you read the comments of the other palyers. We don't win by voting in a hurry. We win by talking and listening and discovering the best move and voting after that.
Using that method, we have won nine games in a row. If the game is a 2 days per move game, we like to talk for at least 24 hours before we vote. If it is a 24 hours per move game, we like to wait till the clock is 10 hours or less before we vote.
Good luck to everyone and let's make it ten victories in a row!
