WCL 2019: Rules
When I joined this group.. first thing I read the rules.
I knew the rules and had read the rules and don’t like the insinuation I didn’t. I thought it was different to the way it was implemented.
Check this recent CWC match where I removed a foreign flag bearer to stay within the 3 in each block of 12. And I thought it was INCOMPLETE group of 12. Didn’t realise I had to worry about how many opponents my club had or whether it was a large match.

So there are 2 points here
1. The rule was not clear although for clubs without foreign flag bearers like Misarata that is not relevant and they don’t have to understand it They also provide less than 12 players in every match and so don’t have to worry about there being an incomplete group of 12 or whether they outnumber their opponents (They probably never do) and whether it is the number in JOIN or active participants
2. The rule appears to have some issues other than the understanding of it.
And I hope all this can be resolved for next season and thank the league directors for allowing this discussion. Appreciated
Read the above post. I understand or thought I understood the rules. When did you last have to worry about having an INCOMPLETE group of 12 players in a match and how many opponents you were supplied with. (When did you last have 12 players in a match)
I was actually thinking that the rule is 1 in 4 for foreign flag holders and a complete group of 4 but even that doesn’t work. If my foreign flag bearers are at #2 and #6 and I only have 7 opponents in the opposing club I still have to remove number 6 even if I have 50 players joined. And check it at 3am to see if my opponent has found anymore so that player can stay. It’s unworkable.
Hello,
I didn't find any forum for Chess960 WCL2019 Sign-up.
So, can anyone please inform me how can I register Team Dhaka for the upcoming season of Chess960 ? As far I know, it starts in April and Division 3 has minimum number of players = 5.
I'm willing to register for Division 3 ![]()
Thanks!

Oh, very sorry, I forgot to double check how old your comment was 😅
Can the player in the WCL 2019 season play classic chess for one team, and play 960 WCL 2019 for another team?
Yes, this is allowed. Multi-team player restrictions are applied only within each of the city leagues (WCL, ECL, Chess960 WCL).
Can you advise how many of the foreign flag bearers need removing in this match.

I think it is just @dnrw9. That will leave 3 in the first 12.
I think Perth needs to remove 2. As our opponents have only provided 11 players. Is this correct? We have to sleep soon and can’t wait until just before it starts.
I dont think we čtverec such spwcific case in rules. Just remove one as you can clearly play on 12 boards.
I have been asked by our club members if we can have a start time next season for the matches that is more suited to Australian clubs. (They have asked me to suggest this). Our matches for Adelaide currently start at 1.30am local time and it does affect how many opponents we get as some join last minute and how many foreign flag bearers we can leave in the match. I am not checking the match at 1.30am. I am asleep usually. And there is also the chance that one of them joins last minute and I can’t control that. Or rejoins after removal. Also have one member who says he missed out due to the late start time. (Not sure why he didn’t just join earlier)
Understanding that daytime in Australia probably wouldn’t suit other clubs within the league. Can I suggest a rotating time to be fair to all. Each round alters the start time by 2 hours or whatever.
Australia does have 8 clubs in this league.
Australian clubs are at a distinct disadvantage in this league. The matches start at 1.30am my time here in Adelaide and I was expecting our opposing team to forfeit as when I looked last they hadn’t made the minimum. But while we are all asleep they are signing up.

I cant ask people to join when there are no opponents for them and when these opponents appear everyone is asleep. Makes it impossible.
I couldn’t sleep and was checking.
Can the start time be reviewed and rotated in different rounds. This is a World Cities League. Other cities should get a chance to start at this inconvenient time of the day.
Issues*
We're already at a disadvantage with stupid flag bearing rules.
Yes we are always removing a player or two and one of my most recent opponents that I have been playing who has an Indian flag and is working here in Adelaide I can vouch for the fact he is here. I have seen him. With my eyes. And that is typical of a multicultural Australia. We have people here originally from all over the globe.
For the 2020 season of the WCL we will publish a new set of rules. This will include some changes, partly initiated by the suggestions of the Australian admins in this forum.
However, for reasons explained at length earlier in this thread, the 25% rule for foreign flags will essentially remain in place. We will moderately modify it to become independent of the number of registrations of the opponent.
Our chess clubs are just that, supporters of these city teams. Just like Football/Soccer/sports teams. There is no rule you have to be located in the city anyway to compete and represent a city in team matches. A flag does not prove the locations of players of which cities do they reside in, it is not a viable solution.
It is a strange rule indeed to try and enforce Ivan.
