Dear Friends,

Thank you for accepting my invitation and joining. I know most of you, but to our surprise there are other people searching for slow time control games and joining this group. It's a great thing, and hopefully we will get a chance to meet them all.

We are created this group for playing slow time control (G/60, G/90) LIVE games. We were able to enjoy such games together even before creating this group, but now we will have a chance to do it more frequently. We will also be able to have group activities such as live chess tournaments.

New ideas, and all contributions are welcomed.

For some reason I'm missing these new posts... :(

It is worth noting that it is easy to get slow, live chess games most of the time by simply clicking MY HOME and then clicking LIVE CHESS  on the drop-down menu.  Then click on the NEW GAME button and set the conditions of play for a slow game.  When the conditions for play are set, simply sit back, rest, and wait for someone to pick up the open challenge.  It is usually less than a five-minute wait until someone accepts the challenge which carries a 90 or 120 minute game.  They are usually not as friendly as the people in the Not So Fast Group, but it isn't necessary to converse in order to have serious chess.  This is probably the friendliest group of chess players I have stumbled across, but one quiet, slow game per evening is generally easy to manage with the open challenge.

Wow 120!  I have timed out a couple of times at that control but usually I'm fine.  I think my preferred time control is 144 actually... Sealed

If we each have 90 or 120 minutes, we can usually manage to complete a game.  I am old, very slow, and sometimes have memory problems; my normal game is completed with an hour or so of total time for the two of us.  And I don't hurry.  In tournament games I can easily use up 90 minutes or so, but I'm hoping my play will be a little faster with an increase in study time and better preparation.  I was just away from the game for so long that I've had to look at everything as though I had never seen any of it before.

I am also hoping to soon be able to play more recreational games, and to become more familiar with the patterns in that way.

I don't know what the limit is here for the time we can put on a live chess game.  Has anyone ever stretched it to see what we are allowed?
