I like chess since my brother show me how to play two years ago.I am a caterer and in my spare time I play chess on chess.com.
Welcome!
Hey, thanks for the invite! So I'm David and chess is one of my fav hobbies. I don't have much time nowadays for it so I try to limit myself to about 5 games: I am a really slow player too and thus quite horrible in blitz
Like my profile says, I have my two bros to thank for iniating me to chess. I somehow developed a real interest for it during high school with a few long breaks in between and participated to a few competitions: inter college (PEJ: http://pejnews.blogspot.com/ - not very flattering picture of me in there
), national. Anyway, wish you all to have fun! Looking forward to our team matches!
David, I think I have played in one or two of those inter-college tournaments, along with guys like Warren and Philippe... I kind of remember Pej... I didn't set those tournaments alight though, to put it mildly...
I have taken up the challenge sent by Team Malaysia, make sure you register for that!
Also, would you any of you guys like to be admin? I will still make you admin even if you refuse :P
Anyway, nice to have you here!
Here's the link to the Team Malaysia match btw, please register guys:

Inter college tournaments were fun: battling other schools, the usual taunts before, between and after the matches :P The "level" of chess ain't so high but it's all about having fun really +it was good enough for an amateur like me. I know two Warren, one from La Confiance and another from RCC: both strong players.
Now, Mauritius Chess Federation is another thing. I participated last year and had the opportunity to play against Fide rated players (2000+). It was good experience but I also fell ill in the meantime so...
OK I joined. They look tough eh, I like the challenge though
Yeah, it's Warren Sanhye from RCC. Strong player indeed!
Great, I am looking forward to taking Malaysia on, we just need 4 people in all for this match.
Hi everybody. I'm gilles. I know Warren Sanhye of course. I'm in the club " b4 chess club" with many good players and exchampion as well like Jacques Kelly. We have actually about 20 members, included recently Vincent Robillard. Its great pleasure for me to join this mauritian group. We must beat Malaysia. Let us have this good and winning spirit!. We can do it guys, believe me!
I omitted to say i'm a member of PEJ and thus I'm also an arbiter at this tournament since about 3 years!
Hmm I did not know that there are quite a number of Mauritians on this website:

Invite away! I already reached my invite limit for today
I have invited around 100 people on that list :)
The rest look like they don't come online at all. But I tend to invite around 30 a day!
Hi all, I'm Mico :
- Resumed Playing chess since last year but did play when I was at uni
- I was a regular user of the french defense but lately switched to the hippopotamus opening.
- My opening repertoire is quite limited apart from French and Hippo I'm presently studying the Lenigrad Dutch opening, King Indian defense and the Nimzowitch opening. As you can see I'm an anti-conformist and prefer hyper modern theories.
I'm passionate of analytical chess i.e. I prefer analysing more my games & other's than actually playing
Aah the French, how I hated playing against that
During recess, at school, a friend of mine loved to play this opening and whenever he did, I knew we would never be able to finish the match in time.
Hi everybody,
I'm in Mauritius now and living in Tombo Bay. Can you tell me where can I find any chess club. Please send me an email at baotantely@gmail.com
Thx a lot.
Hi guys, this is the thread where you can introduce yourself to fellow members!
A few lines is usually enough, no need to write essays although we wouldn't mind if you do write a bit, the more the better :P
Let me go first, as you might have guessed from my profile, I am currently working in insurance in the UK. I have been playing chess since around the age of 13, but I stayed away from it for 3 years and I have just come back to it! Been playing for England for a while, but it's time to fly our own colours!!
