What advice would you give a beginner/intermediate?

What advice would you give somebody at the 1000-1200 level? Somebody who knows the basics and is improving, but looking to continue making good progress and quick improvement.

At this level, what are some of the most important things to know that these players may not know?

There are certain plans you have to know. For example in the closed sicilian white does same side kingside pawn storms on the black king while black pawn storms on the queenside.

For the caro-kann using the f6 and c5 pawn breaks, is a middle game plan

I'd say find an opening (that isn't a gambit or a forced loss *cough* lemming) that you can use through the rest of your chess "career" (wrong word sorry). Puzzles, lots of puzzles, and finally, try to play higher rated players as often as you can. You'll learn more from a loss against a 2000 than a win against a 900
