What do we do with a literal six day creation Exodus 20:11?

Not sure... the errors may be improvements.  But as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe that many plain and precious truths were taken out of the Bible causing many to stumble.

virtuousabyss29

I also believe the KJV is the best translation, but I like to read the OT in its original Hebrew which I think is better.

TheJamesOfAllJameses

Yeah, I know what mormons believe, and that is why there are the other scriptures in the LDS church.

virtuousabyss29

I believe the Bible can be read on many levels, so that alone makes me non-fundamentalist I guess.

virtuousabyss29

Please refer to us as LDS thank you.  "Mormon" is derogatory.

TheJamesOfAllJameses

Not to start a debate about Mormonism, but I have a couple of questions for you.

TheJamesOfAllJameses

Oh sorry.

jaredjm

The Bible itself says that it is inerrant and inspired. See 1 Timothy 3:16 (or is it 2nd? I don't remember off the top of my head). So if you think there are errors in the Bible, you think the entire Bible is wrong, because it is like a circular fallacy really: we know the Bible is true because it says it is true. How do we know that it's true. Well, the Bible is true, because it says it is true, etc. So you have no basis to believe any of the Bible, since if you think there are any errors, you have to throw out the entire thing. And as such, you have no basis for your faith. You have to believe in inerrancy.

virtuousabyss29

I wouldn't feel comfortable fielding questions sorry.  I'm not going to represent my entire Church.  You may ask me one question at a time in private messaging and I will give opinions or if I feel certain I will say so.

I thought those verses in the KJV said verses are for correction.

jaredjm

No it's what @soulmate333 just referenced: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: KJV

TheJamesOfAllJameses

Correction of brothers in Christ, not to correct the Bible.

virtuousabyss29

Thanks for welcoming me.  I feel comfortable here.  I think I'll stick around for a while and I'll try not to be a nuisance.

OK cool

And even if we sound like we're angry or like we're attacking you, we aren't.

Thanks.

We're attacking some of your arguments, not you wink.png

Eric, what do you base this on?

The Book of Mormon and I would not like to be told that it is worthless trash.

The Orthodox Jews like it.  The Roman Catholics like it.  The Lutherans like it.  The Muslims like it.  The Scientoligists like it.  The Raelians like it.

TheJamesOfAllJameses

But does God approve of it?

yes, just because a bunch of apostates like it doesn't make it good 🤨.

(and not all of those are apostates but a bunch are)
