That is a very good game I've never thought of those moves, what's your rating
SO basically you are a 700 with these awesome moves? Little fishy ngl...
If I'm not terribly misled, you think that he maybe cheated or looks suspicious. I'd have to disagree. It's been a while since I've been rated 700 USCF (I've never been rated anything less), but hey, even then I'd find the hanging queen.
Aakula, at your level there's nothing wrong with trying to play boring, perpetual, positional openings. Even I do one of those and I'm over twice your rating, and almost all of my games are boring, yet I win. However maybe your technique with this one isn't the finest. Not to be rude, but it looks like you've never studied it. Here's my analysis:
Move 7-both players made mistakes. I don't know why you played Bd2 but it was way too passive. Bg5 was much more powerful, pinning the knight and preparing Nd5. Then black played Ng4. Um, nice one, black, playing a do-nothing move and giving away your advantage entirely. All it takes is h3 to kick the knight away and you won your tempo back (if he trades on f2 it's two minor pieces for a rook and pawn which helps white a lot in the endgame), and either he must play Nf6, going black to his original square, in which case you can play Bg5, the opportunity you missed before, or he goes Nh6 and you play Bxh6, and no sweat. You opened up his kingside, and his position is horrible.
Instead you played 8. Be3. Whoops.
Maybe Be3 is okay too when done instead of Bd2 (I mean it's playable but not the best), but it's obviously impossible now.
Move 12 Bd5 is bad because of Nd4, gaining more initiative. It's not a particularly productive move. I'd have played Qf2 to "X-ray" (it's like aiming at something but there's something in the way for now, but the threat/pressure is there) the already pinned f7 pawn and stopping Nd4, because the d4 square is now covered by the queen.
Move 13-Whoops! Both sides missed 13. ...Nd4, forking the queen and rook.
Not much else worth saying.
Overall, I think it was a pretty close game, and a rough one, so can you tell me if there are any mistakes. I've analyzed but I just want your opinions.
Thanks!
