https://www.chess.com/variants/4-player-chess/game/96299323/73/1 Move 23 red I open a line of attack with the bishop on the already in check blue king. I've taken away blue's only king move.
Blue's only option is pawn takes queen, or queen takes queen.

Blue resigns. Now only the zombie king remains and it can't move because of my bishop. GREEN GETS 20 POINTS FOR MATE!?
What's the justification for green getting mate when it wasn't the last to move.
I'd like a point refund please.

Green was the one dealing a check. Therefore the points go to green. I don'tt think turns really matter unless you're also checking the mated player.

Turns absolutely matter in 4 player, you can earn a checkmate without dealing check yourself by blocking or taking a defending piece if it's the only move possible for the player in check, likewise you can take escape squares away from the checked king to deal checkmate too.

that's an interesting situation. i think it's correct that green is getting the points. you didn't checkmated him, and with the blue resign, he found himself checkmated in green's turn. you had to consider that possibility.

anyway would be a better rule that resigned kings should be captured to get the points, and not just checkmated

I Agree, lets change 4p to capture king

I think resigning should force one bot move before all pieces grey out on the resigning players next turn. Far too often I've been robbed on 9 or 20 points because a player resigned.

just go to 4pc then customize > edit rules, then select capture the king

i know, i always play it, it's a shame it is not rated anymore. i was saying that i think it would be the best as standard mode. anyway just hope they make it rated again
