Try 3.. Bc5, or if you don’t like that, try the Traxler.

The engine says 7. Qd5 instead of bringing your night out. You are threatening checkmate and both black's bishop and knight so you will win a piece. Black can check you on f2 with the bishop but I think after moving your king to a safe square he will have nothing else and you will win the piece.

You really need to notice when the f2 square is under attack and do something about it and especially do something when your queen is under attack.

Well, what you play can work, although I have developed a gambit which I play whenever somebody plays what you play, and I win most of the time since the gambit is like an improved Danish Gambit.

Of course I don't want to give away all my secret preparation, but you usually get a very aggressive position that looks something like this.

If you actually want to stop the fried liver though, probably play either 3...Bc5(but then you have to worry about the Evan's Gambit), or just play 3...Nf6, and if they play 4. Ng5, then you can do this:

E5 is best to play. Just don't bring the knight out on first move and play something like d5 after and maybe do Danish gambit:

or just capture the pawn.

Or, do the coca-cola gambit (the worst gambit in chess)

Generally just react when it's threatened, no need to proactively prevent it. I recommend blocking the bishop with e3 or Be3. Adjust as needed based on position (d3, e6/d6 if you're black, etc). You can also play Ng3 if it hasn't moved yet as that will guard the f7 pawn.

If you do get hit with it just save your queen/king, try to get the knight in exchange for your rook. At 500 elo, being down 3-6 points of material doesn't mean that much.
