What is idolatry?

So I like to read a lot of things. I read the Bible, the Srimad Bhagavatam, here lately the Quran, and sometimes I read novels and manga and the like. My conscience has really been bothering me lately, though. Oh yeah, I also like to listen to classic rock from the 60's and 70's. Sometimes I feel a very deep connection with the things I read and listen to, but it feels like I'm worshiping these things as a god, even though that's not what I want. It's like I'm so close to something that I think is going to make me happy, but for some reason it feels wrong, like it's cursed or something. If I want to stop worshiping idols, then I might have to stop using this website altogether, because it breaks my heart to be on here and to only be able to communicate with people through the media of lies and false idols. If I leave suddenly, that's the reason why. I can't stand the insincerity, and I can't tell what's real and what shouldn't be.

Thanks for your response. Some religions put a greater emphasis on not using images in worship (Judaism/Christianity) or ascribing partners to God (Islam). A typical verse from the Quran would be, "Call on the partners you have besides God, to see if they can help you on the day of judgment." From the Bible, you might encounter, "Because their foolish hearts were darkened, they worshiped the creature more than the creator, making images of men and animals and bowing down to them." I'm paraphrasing. And some people serve RadhaKrishna with some material end in view. I'm just trying to set aside all those ulterior motives. Thanks for your help.

I'm sure that's alright, but it's not the way to have unadulterated love for the Personality of God. Am I right?
