I’ve never heard of tournaments barring lower rated players from playing in open tournaments.

there is so little space between 1900 and 2000! Also, the players are mostly UNDER 1800!

Well it may not be fair per say, so just git gud. Why should you play 2000s if you haven’t proven yourself capable of handling against 2000 opponents?
