they are literally only letting me play against u1800s!

That's because nobody above 1900 wants to play U2000. Just get over it they can do anything about it

im also talking about 1800-1900, who are the most deeply affected by this madness, which includes me

I mean, it literally says “open”

im talking about open sections, the highest sections in the tournament

You could ask. “Hey I’d like to join the open section, is it possible for me to do so even though I’m only 1818 rating”?

they will stick to theeir rules, however stupid they may be, and say no

So, you haven’t asked.

They aren't stupid ok. Stop being salty and just play the tournament and get your rating up. Everybody has to deal with these things.

they should allow me to play against someone over 1800

if you win all your games, you should face someone of similar strength

i can win all my games and still be forced to play against a 1600!

the uscf rating system makes ratings go up slower than ever, and combined with this rule, it is just total madness

If you adjust the rules, another rating range will be targeted. You can't satisfy  everyone

Well, if you win you win the tournament.

Well, if you win you win the tournament.

And when that happens, you get way more money than you invested

my rating will go up by a minuscule amount and ill be stuck for 6 months playing only lower rated players! That will lead to worry and soon i will lose games and my rating will plummet

if i am forced to play lower rated players all the time and never higher rated players, it WILL lead to worry and my rating WILL plummet

That's only that one tournament. Also, if you are better than them you shouldn't have to worry. Thats just psychology

All the chess associations in the us don't even allow me, rated 1818, to play against anyone in the world rated over 2000. What is this? 1400s can play against 1800s but why can't 1800s play against 2000s?

For example, the highest section in almost all CCA tournaments is an open/premier/major section open only to those over 1900. The next section is an under 2000 section filled with 1500s, 1600s, and 1700s. Very few 1900s or even 1800s. This makes no sense at all!

stop advaith, who is in that range of players that mad system of sections has stopped me from playing against

Yes, yes. We 2000+ rated players are secretly conspiring against players rated under 1900. Quite amazing that you were the first to find out!

Quite amazing indeed. Us 1600 USCF have also been helping

It's not really an "open" section if it's not open to players below a certain rating.

Well in tennis, the open tournaments aren't open to everybody

But in chess, they generally are. Or at least they used to be.
