What is your most expensive chess set?

Best pieces we had as kids were very tough plastic, filled with cement/plaster for weight. Felt bottom that no punk could tear off. I'd take that anyday, over the never-used sets of the Rich and Famous.

Fig_Newtonian

I've got a 3-Man Chess set that costs $50. The board is a circle!

Hailey

About a 300$ chess set

5CardDraw

I have a Fischer/Spassky commemorative set...

Let's go!!

IAmKingWei

Mine was free from a contest so I guess it costs one win?

Sophych

I have a chess set from before WW2 that my great grandfather used

PhantomX02

$450 USD. It's the square off smart board.

JBabkes

I have two Jacques of London sets I use on my Drueke chess table. Very satisfied with the setup.

ThatClarinetist

You guys must have money just sitting around, my set is $20

Little_Toadie

The most expensive is the Pearl Royale Chess Set, costing about $4 million, the one I own is only $30.

(Edit: I forgot to put the word "Million", sorry for any misconception)

ChessPro1016

@PhantomX02 bruh you got screwed. That board is like, most $375.

MasonMirabile

@ChessPro1016 It is $450 new on the website… what makes you think it is $375? (Grand Kingdom Set)

Koolking48

In the US Chess catalog, which comes out just before Christmas, they feature a set made from fossilized Mastodon Ivory. Price tag is $10,000. I know, but it is beautiful.

njzuraw13

I'm not sure of the cost, but I have a hand-made, antique set from Spain that I got as a gift

ChessPro1016

@xWinterTheGodx First of all, that's not relevant. Second, it could've exploded once it arrived...

brother7

714 euros (about 800 USD) for a Noj Dubrovnik Minceta, brown stained with extra queens.

Rinzler6

Not sure, probably $50 USD for most expensive (glass and frosted glass pieces and squares on the board).

For least expensive, probably my cardboard one that I made myself and drew with marker that would have cost around perhaps $1USD to make. Otherwise, it's probably this other cardboard and plastic set I had from the dollar store.

modderman8

I have one that I got in Greece for 270 Euros last summer, but I think my most expensive set is a handmade marble set that I got as a gift, and I don't know the price of it. My cheapest set is probably my "analysis" board that I don't even use because it's tiny.

Too bad most tabletops are not made from ferrous metals. Could have cloth/plastic one with magnets under extended corners. Probably would withstand small breeze and could be carried in pocket.

LetsPlayToget

Mine is is a 30 dollar chess set made of 100% wood
