What is your take on elo-farming?

I think farming is indeed legitimate, but doing it too much is not something I like. What you like might be totally different. Sometimes people create online accounts to farm, which would make a case for Grandmasters like Hikaru or Magnus.

Reason being, the higher rated you are, the longer it takes to find matches, making it easy to play a lower rated opponent.

Yeah. That CM instance may be farming, not sure. The higher rated you are, the more often people request rematches.

Playing against lower-rated players is not cheating.
Yes, you're probably going to win, but if your rating is enough higher than theirs, you don't get many points, and eventually you'll stop getting any points at all. And if you lose or even draw, you lose a lot of points. So farming in this way is limited in its effectiveness.
And no, this is not sandbagging. Sandbagging is intentionally losing to lower your rating. That is considered a form of cheating and people get banned for it.
Playing rigged games against yourself on an alt account is rating manipulation, and people get banned for that.

Yes, that's a good summary of what we've been discussing
Plus being so much higher rated automatically makes you paired with poor matches.
