A really cool exercise: How would you play as white?

Rc3?

In the short term? Probably Ne5 - it's an outpost and lovely position for the Knight. But also at one point we may want the pawn break on g4 so that knight is gonna have to go to e2. Not sure which order though...

The N on e5 looks very powerful. However you can do this any time. Black's best piece at the moment is their N on d5, so reaching an N to c3 to threaten it seems to be a logical idea. However Ne2 cannot be played immediately to reach this square due to b5. Nf1-Nd2 seems quite slow, but I am not too sure how black takes advantage of it. Maybe they can try pawn breaks on the King side, but it is still a little difficult for them. The N can even reach b1 and then c3 to challenge the N maybe.

Interesting, but I think it's more worthwhile for Black to just ignore his rook.

Yes, you have good points. Having a Knight on e5 is something White wants, but can't we fight Black's pieces first?

Try to work on tactical themes after 1.Ne2 b5 2.Ne5 Nxe3 =)

Oh wait you’re right. I completely forgot about the diagonal opening and just rejected the line: d5 check wins the Q. This means Ne2 is the best move as the N reaches c3 quickly.

It’s not that simple. The knight on e5 blocks the check. I haven’t been able to figure out how to continue yet.

in the variation I suggested, the N is not on e5 yet

Sorry I thought you were working off the line Rizsatt gave you.

Anyways off of Rizsatt’s line 1. Ne2 b5 2. Ne5 Nxe3. I am guessing you still play 3. d5 and if Nxd5 4. Nxg6+ Kg8 5. Qh8+ Kf7 looks real promising
