When is a member's "last_online" time not the last time they were online?

Answer: When a member is accessing the site via the mobile app!

It seems that via the app, a member is permanently 'logged on' and so never updates the "last_online" setting.

This cropped up here: Games Played Long After Last Online Date?

But I thought it might be new information for many in this club, so wanted to draw attention to it.

It's something I've been using for years to weed out 'absent' club admins who get nominated to look after teams in the leagues I help run but it seems that doesn't work so well any more 🙄

i don't understand your question. Yes, last online but not last online?

Or is it the subject you don't quite understand? I think most users of the site's API assume the "last_online" value is an accurate indication of when someone most recently logged into the site - would that be about right?

But we're now told that it only applies to actual logins, via any device that requires a login, not if a member is using the mobile app. In the case of the app a member is considered to be permanently logged-in and so there's no updating of the "last_online" data.

All of my access is via a loptop and Chrome browser so I have to login each time and as a result the "last_online" value in my profile data should accurately reflect my last login. This wouldn't be the case when I used the app.

So you can't really use that metric, for instance, to know inactive players in a club...?

stephen_33

Looks like it at least until it's fixed and heaven knows when that will be.

Good to know. Thanks.

But I am not sure if it is 100% correct. I have not logged in for years and the API shows a date 20 minutes ago.

Maybe because I am using the website? (I have logged in long time ago an just ticked the stay logged in thing, so have not logged in for a long time)

Can any developer hear me? I'm losing a lot of gameplay due to connection failure. When it disconnects, it takes a long time to reconnect again and sometimes it doesn't connect anymore. just starting another game

@jardele4 - what does that have to do with either this topic or come to that the site's API, which is what this club is meant to be about.

Connection problems in Live games is a normal site problem and you need to report to staff..
