maksym1 -- what hardware are you running that later versions are incompatible with? have you tried Debian? I have run Debian on a dozen laptops over the last five or six years and it has never had an insurmountable issue.
Which distrobution you guys running?

lubuntu 12.04 and backtrack 5.
I like to try all sorts of distros though and have a couple harddrive partitions and USB drives set aside for playing around.

maybe I'm old-fashioned (or just old), but I really don't get all the distributions that are floating out there... it seems to me that there are two fundamental things a distro has to do right: 1) recognize the hardware, and 2) provide the facilities to manage the system... seems to me most distros have strayed in the direction that they focus on making the desktop pretty, and that isn't even something distribution specific...

I'm on Mint 14, my first linux distribution, and I'm loving it. Which brings me onto...
Has anyone here tried Chess Position Trainer 4 and/or any of the ChessOk (Peshk@) software through Wine? If so, could you give me your thoughts on them? I've got PC vs Scid, but I'd like some training software, but I don't really want to buy anything that won't work well through wine.
Thanks for reading!
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat 64-bit.
The higher versions including 11.10 are incompatible with my hardware.
