I am off heavy painkillers finally but have sustained some permanent damage , so I can talk without any influence. 1,2,3, and 4 I totally agree with. Thanks for invite.
Why a Chess.com V2 club? Please read...

Thanks.
We have actually done a few things to help with eye strain. Have you tried the LIGHT theme recently?
As for icons, yeah, that is a tough balance. Again, with the interface being in 40+ languages now, it's been very challenging. We always provide tooltips if it's not clear. But I do agree we should add text in more places. That is definitely being considered as we move forward.
As for speed, I have addressed that as being our #1 concern!
As for tiled backgrounds... well, that I'm sorry about because it's not coming back soon. For whatever reason that has mostly disappeared as a design pattern for the internet. If you would like some help I would personally happily make a full background tiled just for you
@thewoefulking - I'm here to be productive and helpful. Many of these decisions are not about coding or rewrites, but are product decisions. And like all decisions, they will never make 100% of people happy. I am constantly fighting that battle.

Hi Erik, I've been trying to get used to V3, but as far as playing is concerned (online chess) I much prefer the layout of V2, in particular the Analysis board (pop out).
Is that gone for good in V3?
Also the board resize function in V3 is terrible IMHO, any potential changes there?

Thanks. I'd like to hear more why you prefer a popout instead of on-page? Is it just the visual separation? Also, we have a REALLY cool new analysis feature coming very soon!!
Can you say more why you don't like the board resizing? Are you using vertical or horizontal nav menu? Thanks!

Yes the visual separation, a clear delineation between the analysis board and the main board. On V3, I always feel I'm going to make a real move rather than just playing with ideas on the analysis board.
The nav menu belongs on the top...I can see why you asked because the resize works better with it on the side

The reason is because... Tetris? Seriously though, if you are trying to fit all of the shapes of the website onto the shape of a screen, you will see that if you have the following items:
- a square chessboard (which you want as big as possible!)
- a sidebar with information
- a navigation bar
.... then to get the chessboard to be optimally sized you put it at full height and put the sidebars to the sides. That gives you the largest board. And many sites these days are using side nav over top. Not all, but many like Facebook, YouTube, etc. I love the side compact nav!

Fair enough, any thoughts on the Analysis board issue?

I don't like how it's hard to navigate around V3, and how I can't see the list of messages I get like emails (correct me if there is a way to do this. I haven't been on V3 for more than 30 minutes even once in my life)
The main one thing I hate about V3 is how they have not kept Endless Chess Quiz. I have worked really hard to get as high on the leaderboard as possible. I have earned 91,000 points and have gotten #46 on the leaderboard. I have also know crossfire, who is #4 on the leaderboard, and has earned a whooping 814,000 points. He has personally told me that he had left Chess.com because they were taking out Endless Chess Quiz. Is there a reason for Endless Chess Quiz to be discontinued? I have learned more about playing chess then on any other feature on Chess.com. I have learned more Chess history than all other source I have experienced in my life. I, and many other people have given up on Endless Chess Quiz, and in some cases, Chess.com. I have become a lot less active on Chess.com than I used to be. I am active now, but I used to be on Chess.com for almost the whole day I am home. I understand that there are plenty of bad questions, but there are plenty of ways to fix this. The Quiz only lets you report a question before you answer a question. This feature should be also added for after you answer a question. You could stop more bad question from being made by banning people from making questions if they make too many bad questions. If Chess.com uses Endless Chess Quiz to it's full potential, there will be a lot more people to actually use it. Is there a reason to discontinue Endless Chess Quiz?

I could post a few screenshots comparing the same pages in v2 and v3 to demonstrate the higher percentage of whitespace in v3, that is probably contributing to the harshness/glare caused eyestrain.
I'd actually really appreciate that. Thank you!

Wow! That's really interesting! Thank you for letting me know.
The truth is that the Endless Chess Quiz was by far the least-used feature on the site. And given a finite-amount of resources, we have had to decide what to do. Unfortunately that did not make the cut... for now.
However, the data is still there! So there certainly is a chance we can put it back in the future. I really appreciate you sharing that with me. Definitely encouraged me to add it to the roadmap.

Give me like 1 week to blow your mind with the new Analysis board, ok?

Ah, I see. For that level of customization we offer the Chess.com extension! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chess-browser-extension/fcfojodfingmafbdmlekaaoogcfpjegg

i dunno why you haven't been banging this out Erik, this could be hugely significant for a lot of people.
I've tried a few different font colours and have at least made it less harsh on the eye. It's still not pretty to look at, but significantly better than the black font on white background.
Unfortunately, text in quote boxes and in the current box i'm typing into revert back to default black on white

Will there be such an extension for Firefox?

We are working to improve it and make it more public. Thank you for the feedback.

Yes but Firefox extensions team is being soooooooo slooooooow to approve it :/

My board still cant be resized, when I do put the menu on the left and try to resize it "snaps" back to being small. We chatted before on this, you commented no way is V2 bigger than V3 by default. BTW martin claims he gave the "fix" for it but NEVER did. I will post the screen shots of V2, V3 menu on top and V3 menu on side. You will see how tiny it is.
I'd like to see those screenshots! Or a video would be even better with this free tool: https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html
This is my screen in V3 with board at maximum size (ignore my bad position ):

However, I don't use Chrome - it's too lightweight. No one I know uses Chrome for any serious use, we all use Firefox because it's more robust/stable, etc. And a member should not be forced to change his/her preferred browser. I haven't found any other website that I use that is not compatable (with all features enabled) with all the popular browsers.
It's not the website, it's an extension. The website works fine on all major browsers (even if FireFox is currently the slowest browser). Have you seen extensions that only work with one browser? There are many. Anyway, it's under review by FireFox's team. We submitted it about 6 weeks ago. They got back to us TODAY asking for more trivial information. Very frustrating.
Why? Because I'm not satisfied that we have done enough to make V3 the right home for everyone. I know that there are a lot of people who love Chess.com.... the former Chess.com before "V3"! And while we have moved to V3 by default, and most people are using V3, I am not giving up on trying to explore as many possible options to help everyone continue enjoying Chess.com.
I'd like to set a few expectations for this club.
First, this is only a place to talk about the main Chess.com website, not mobile apps.
Second, this is NOT a place for people to come and argue "V3 is better", etc. Go away
Third, I'm hoping this will be a place we can discuss meaningful and specific differences between the two versions of Chess.com and ways that we can improve V3 to help you out.
Fourth, I don't think there is much to be gained from simply saying "I hate it." because I don't know how to act on that. But if you want to say that, you can
And I will listen.
Fifth, please try to remember that I'm not a bad person trying to make your life worse. I'm working hard to balance many needs and constraints: technological, psychological, and metaphysical
I personally understand the frustration that comes from changes in products. I was irate when iOS7 came out (still hate the green chat icon). I started an online petition when New Balance stopped making a particular model. It took me months to get used to the new Google Maps on iPhone. And Firefox made me so mad that I left for Chrome. So please, understand that I care and I know the frustration. And I want to help. If you will let me. And if you won't, well, like I said, I'm here for you to throw tomatoes at!
I think what would be most helpful is to start each forum topic with a specific complaint so I can read it and discuss. I'll go first!
