No. It's still working just fine. I just checked.

Its been a while since anybody commented in this particular thread.
Over 2 months.
Anyway - there's other variables in V3 performance - besides V3 itself.
Another is whatever computer system is trying to use it.
And another is the choices made by each member as to how they run that system.
One more thing: Yes - V3 runs "heavy" - its meant to apparently - and that part is V3's "fault".
But Windows 7 and Windows 10 run even heavier. A lot heavier. Not V3's "fault".
Although there's lots that can be done about that. Including much of it very very easily.
And I'm thinking that those facts have not had enough attention in this V2 Club.
Not nearly enough. Partly accounting for why progress is taking so Long!
That's not true, I have both Win 7 and 10 and 7 is much faster. Of course last updates plagued it with Compatel.exe and other MS resident tasks slowing it down, but there is no comparison with Win 10, which is bloated at max.
If someone wants a fast OS, Linux is the easy choice, today it has graphical installer and programs to handle all types of files.
About V3 I am not using it because of slowness compared with V2, in fact I will not visit this site in the near future (maybe except for news and forums) because there are lots of cheaters left to play undisturbed.
I am very much happier on other site(s), where I have more than 200 rating points more than here and even anounce me for more points when an opponent was closed for cheating.
@mcris
What part isn't true?
it doesn't apply to you that Windows 7 is "slow". It doesn't apply to many people.
But your system is just one system - out of 20 million members here.
And over a billion people using Windows.
I'll say it again:
Windows 7 and 10 are causing more of the slowness problems on V3 - than V3 itself.
Why do I think so?
There are issues proving this to people.
There's an extremely long list of things that can be turned off or uninstalled -
in both Windows 7 and Windows 10. Every time that's done - that helps performance.
But the longer the list - the less people want to hear about it! LOL
But that's precisely why it matters - and is also part of the proof.
The more that Windows can be made to run better - and browser and connection -
then the more likely there'll be better performance results on V3 (if performance is bad).
I've seen that on several different computers.
For people who don't believe this - you can google it.
You'll find lots of confirmation. Uninstall stuff you don't need.
Turn off things that don't need to run.
Do people want this proven? Many don't.
They're happy to have V2 or V3 available and why wouldn't they be?
Do I need to prove anything? No.
You cannot uninstall MS hooks like Compatel.exe, updates hook ruining 50% of processing power, Office One Click (unless you unistall MS Office altogether) and all others.
I like that term "hooks". And yes - there's a lot of stuff you can't uninstall.
Especially in Windows 10. Flash - Cortana - and Edge for example.
Its hard to just disable them too. OneDrive can be uninstalled -
but you have to be past the "Creators" stage of Windows 10 to do that.
But whether its Windows 7 or Windows 10 -
there's long lists of stuff that can be turned off and disabled -
and many things can be uninstalled too.
Windows 7 and Windows 10 are not set up with dedicated gaming on a very busy gaming site for Home computers - in mind.
But the flip side of that is - there's lots of options and Settings in Windows - to fix that.
@GeneralChang If you think your individual computer issues are being experienced by everyone else on Chess.com, you are wrong. At some point maybe you should start looking at your own unique issues to find out what is wrong.
Classy to publicly post a private message... :eyeroll:
But I have experienced it. Chungle has mentioned it as well. GambitMan, RuneTonseth before they left mentioned the same. And I can go back and pull mentions of sluggishness from thread posts dating back years now, if I had the time.
GeneralChang is not the only one to experience it. Even JDCannon came and witnessed it. He showed me his laptop with a lesser CPU, a lesser hardware profile, and his web experience over the same wireless network was much better than mine. I'm not a laptop guru - nor a software middleware expert in regards to how javascript runs better / worse on one instance or the other.
I DO KNOW, however, that because of the marked increase in javascript functions being shipped over the wires, an increase in CPU usage / rendering / page & swap consumption must also increase. Some systems will respond differently than others. V2 did NOT have those problems because the interface was much simpler base construct!
V3 will never approximate the responsiveness V2 had because of how much code is involved in either instance.
Hi Erik, I've been trying to get used to V3, but as far as playing is concerned (online chess) I much prefer the layout of V2, in particular the Analysis board (pop out).
Is that gone for good in V3?
Also the board resize function in V3 is terrible IMHO, any potential changes there?
Thanks. I'd like to hear more why you prefer a popout instead of on-page? Is it just the visual separation? Also, we have a REALLY cool new analysis feature coming very soon!!
Can you say more why you don't like the board resizing? Are you using vertical or horizontal nav menu? Thanks!
That for me is the biggest issue still. The new Analysis thing just fails the coolness test. I actually have started to us the Opening Explorer to analyse games even though the Opening is well over. It is the closest thing to the old pop-up still available on the site.
is the search string in v2 now broken?
the v3 search string simply isn't up to the job...
