why cant there be 2 utt for every tuesday to accomodate for all timezones?

If those Saturday events that are at good times for Eurasia start to really fill up, that will show that there are a lot of people who would play in an earlier event and that can't in the later event.  At that point we can reconsider.  But right now that's not happening.

I don't want to overlap with Titled Tuesday.  We have people who want to watch that.  I like that they can come straight from watching Titled Tuesday to playing Untitled Tuesday.

I don't want to increase the workload by adding tournaments.  That means an increase in the workload of creating them, posting reminders, recording results in the spreadsheet, scanning for fair play concerns, writing recaps, etc.

That means that the only real option is to move to before Titled Tuesday, perhaps for every other week.

There's a real downside with that.  In the UK and western Europe, a lot of people are either still working or are commuting home from work at that time.

Also, when our Saturday events have been at good times for Eurasia and poor times for North America, they've tended to have a fairly poor turnout.  People from Europe and Asia don't tend to turn out in large numbers even when the tournament is at a convenient time.  If we had a large number of people from Europe and Asia showing up for these Saturday events when they're at good times, that would demonstrate that we have a large number of people who would play on Tuesday if it was at a more convenient time.  But so far, that simply hasn't been the case.  I'm concerned that if we moved to the earlier slot before Titled Tuesday that it would be too early for North America, highly inconvenient for many people in western Europe, and we'd have a low turnout from the rest of Eurasia, and as a result we simply wouldn't have many people show up.

I don't really see a lot of good options here.

The current situation is hardly ideal, but changing it in a way that hurts turnout in general to cater to people who aren't showing up in large numbers when tournaments do suit their time zone doesn't seem like the best solution.

did u notice that they are still not getting an equal amount of time as us? why dont u try it for a month? see how it goes, the only reason that they dont come is because you dont give them enough tournaments.

Do you know a lost cause when you see one?

YOu dont need to answer, because I already know.

@sapphireglacier It's kind of getting annoying now. Please stop debating a lost cause. Your arguments seem originated from one who didn't read any of MG's posts in this thread.

@sapphireglacier, we've had the monthly rotating Saturday events for years.  The weekly events are new.  The Saturday events that are at good times for Eurasia and bad for North America have always been poorly attended.

We maybe can do this once this club hits maybe 3500 people which is a far way from now.

That'll probably take another year or so to occur and it is impractical to dwell so far ahead in the future.

Untitled Tuesday has only been around for about three years.

So the club hasn't been around long. For me I feel like one year goes by too quick

Today's event is a great example of what I mean.  Late morning and afternoon for Europe and Asia.  We had 16 people show up, one didn't even play a single game, and 12 finished the event.

One of those who played was @SmyslovFan, from the U.S.  So we had 11 participants from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, on a weekend, at a good time.

If we had 30-40 instead of 11, I would be more inclined to reconsider the Tuesday schedule.  But at the moment, even when tournaments are at a good time, we just don't have very many people showing up.

SF  is an insomniac of course! 😃

There have been much better Saturday turnouts , but have to agree the Tuesdays tourney has more enthusiasts.
