Why did I lose rating here?

Hi guys @Martin_Stahl told me to put this in here.
My opponent aborted the game here but I lost points.  You are not supposed to lose points if you abort but especially not if  are not the one who did it. I posted it in the general forums but they were very confused especially because I lost 4.4 ELO it is very strange.

Is the URL something I should have saved or can I locate it? and if so how?

https://www.chess.com/variants/racing-kings/game/28733997/1/1

found the game, you need to press this button:

to see aborted games in the archive. The game chat clearly states that monkey was the one who aborted, so idk what’s going on

was I white? because I believe I tried to move and I could not thanks though this could explain half of it.

Is there any chance that you were slightly confused by the position? It's happened to me too in custom variants especially... Where I look at the wrong timer to see who's go it is.

SharkBaitHooHaHaHah

Sometimes when im afk and it automatically aborts me, I lose like 30 points.

Yes that seems to be what happened i played a few games yesterday and I found out I was regularly confused what color I was I now understand that I aborted however I am still confused as to why I lost points as well as why I would lose half a point.

  • You had the white pieces and aborted because you didn't make a first move
  • In variants, you lose rating after aborting to prevent players from just aborting games they're likely to lose

Ok thanks all is explained.

Can anyone explain why I lost more points than the third and fourth place players here despite coming second and all other players being more highly ranked? It makes no sense to me?

Your Glicko Rating Deviation or RD is (as of now) 66. @ivo324's Glicko RD is 58, and @Dr_ATLAS_05's Glicko RD is 59. The higher your Glicko RD, the more dramatic your rating changes are for winning or losing, and as shown here, can make you lose more than even higher ranked players.

Your Glicko RD will go up when you play against players that have a much lower rating (or higher, although this is uncommon) than you, as shown here: https://www.chess.com/variants/4-player-chess/game/29059948/84/1, where you are playing against a 2000, 1100, and 1400 as a 2300, and go down when you play against players of similar rating.

(Note: Glicko RD is a measurement of rating accuracy, on variants, your Glicko RD starts at 120, and then usually settles at around 55-75 after around 50 games.)

This sums it up^

Also note that the game was solo not ffa, meaning only the player who comes 1st will gain points, all other players lose "once" that amount of loss is determined by Glicko RD and your rating.
