Why do people cheat?

This might be a better question for a psychologist.

Here are some of the common reasons:

• People want the respect that they perceive is associated with being a strong player
• They want to win a tournament that they are not capable of winning fairly
• They want to troll stronger players
• They like the intellectual challenge of trying to beat the detection system
• They think everyone else is cheating too
