Why has 1 point queens and zombie kings become standard?

I must say I personally hate the 1 point queen rule in FFA. It encourages early pawn promotions and not creativity. The rule should be QRBN just like in standard chess. Queens should always be worth 9 points in my opinion. 

You should have the freedom to select whatever piece you want to promote to. The 1 point queen rule complicates the decision whether to trade a 1 queen with a 5 point rook or not, since the player with the most points wins. Someone could choose to trade their queens with a rook or knight to have the most points.

Whenever someone punishes a mistake made by an opponent, who promotes his pieces too early or makes a mistake with his queen, the player should be rewarded with 9 points, not 1, since the player with most points wins.

Another issue I've noticed since the last update is that you can no longer create a game with the no zombies rule without it becoming casual. I've always prefered the no zombies rule. The zombie kings can sometimes be a distraction and nuisance. It's hard to concentrate on the existing opponents, if a queen just keeps moving around.

I've played games before where the zombie king took my pieces, and I had to move them away, so I couldn't place them wherever I wanted and fully focus on my existing opponents.

Idk your rating but pretty clearly you are not a high rated player, just bc you made this post. 1 point queens are one of the best things about 4pc, and I think and hope most players will agree. I wont go into detail just smh. Also, SMH if you think no zombies should be standard... lol

1 point queens vs QRBN is a matter of choice, however I think zombie kings are objectively best. If there are no zombie kings, it is pure luck who captures a dead king first.

But zombie kings could be about luck as well. For example if your opposite opponent is the first one who resigns, then his zombie king would most likely be checkmated by the right or left opponent, since their pieces are better positioned to do so than your own. I just don't understand why you can't play a rated game with the no zombies rule anymore. For me, the no zombies rule is the most convenient and natural one. A dead king is a dead king.

The chances of you being able to checkmate your opposite's king are even lower if it doesn't move (bishops/queens of the side players will be able to reach it in 2-3 moves, whereas your queen will take 4-5). But I agree that it should be an option, even if I would not use it.

Zombie kings can make people extremely lucky or extremely unlucky. Like you, I hope people will come up with something better.

Why the heck does 4pc have godamn zombie kings or paralyzed colorful kings, when they could just automactically stalemate that king and share the points with other players, so we dont have to depend of luck to someone get a free checkmate points? Its literally luck proof, unless the it depends of who resign, its less luck dependency than other methods of forfeited players. Correct me if Im wrong

It would allow more kingmaking, or at least point giving in general. If I'm playing as green and red is about to checkmate me but I resign, giving +7 to everyone instead of +20 to red, that's definitely unfair for red.

Yeah your right, zombie king is more fair

IMO, zombie kings should auto stalemate after 2 or 3 turns so as to allow the player to complete the mating opportunity he had before the resignation. This would eliminate the unfair part and the luck based mating later on.

Nycdr, you have some good points. However, 4 player chess cannot serve to please everyone.
