Why has 1 point queens and zombie kings become standard?

IMO, zombie kings should auto stalemate after 2 or 3 turns so as to allow the player to complete the mating opportunity he had before the resignation. This would eliminate the unfair part and the luck based mating later on.

Seems like a good idea

Idk your rating but pretty clearly you are not a high rated player, just bc you made this post. 1 point queens are one of the best things about 4pc, and I think and hope most players will agree. I wont go into detail just smh. Also, SMH if you think no zombies should be standard... lol

Are YOU a high rated player?

Are YOU a high rated player?

Nycdr, you have some good points. However, 4 player chess cannot serve to please everyone.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

It’s good that QRBN hasn’t been abolished, and I hope you maybe would consider bringing back an option for players to play with the no zombies rule in a future update.

Early pawn promotions are easy to take advantage of because the queens have very few squares to be placed on during the beginning of a 4PC match, so they are quite vulnerable and easy to attack, but playing with 1 point queens makes it less appealing to attack them and take advantage of mistakes made by opponents. The rule means it makes less sense to attack the queens, which kind of ruins the point of the game. Remember it’s the player with the most points who wins. That’s why I play all my matches with the QRBN rule.

If a player chooses to promote like 2 pawns to get the 1 points queens and then trades them with a bishop and a rook, then he’d be the one with the advantage because that would be good for his total score.

A player trading his bishop and rook for the queens would only gain 2 points from the trades, while the opponent with the 1 point queens would get 10 points, which would be unfair for the other player. Point stability in the game is important, since it’s the player with the most points who wins, and not the last standing player who wins.

Also as I said before, the zombie kings can occupy quite a lot of space, sometimes important squares that could be crucial for attacking an opponent. If you play with the no zombies rule that no longer is an issue, and you can freely move around your pieces and focus on your existing opponents. It’s not entirely based on luck who captures a resigned king. Most resigned kings that gets captured are captured by players, who were about to checkmate it.
