I just get flagged by other 1400s. I only lose to them on time and cheap traps at this point. Once I reach 1490 though I bet 1600s will be thrown against me, halting my progress. OUTRAGEROUS!
why man

Ha! Let's just say reaching 1600 is hard, 1700 is hard (1700s are weird) and 1700s are bad these days. I know because I hung my queen a few days ago and I'm supposed to be 1750+ 1600s are all strong, but they stop anyone from reaching 1700...

At 1600 I would get 1500+ opponents, generally 1550+... I think. My memory is WACK

I jokingly think that sometimes the chess.com pairing algorithm is trying to kill us all lol.
It always feels like whenever I need just 8 more points to reach my 100 rating interval, then I get some weaker opponent who plays tough with +6 for me winning and -10 for losing and then repeat as I get the identical rating difference next game too lol.
Nothing sinister going on though - it is purely mathematical and perhaps a bit psychological. We simply won't remember the time we thought we had a fair matchup; we'll simply play the game and rating won't stand up much.
Look at it this way instead, you are getting tougher opponents rated about 75 points higher than you BECAUSE you are winning and doing well. Perhaps you'll keep increasing more
Also consider the other player as they are paired against someone 75 points lower rated (you) when more of their rating is in danger.
It sometimes baffles me how so many chess.com members want to only play players at or above their rating. If everyone followed that strictly, then no one higher would play you!

yeah ik. just a bit gloomy that I've been pushing for 1600 for like 2 weeks straight, and played some really good games, and just can't seem to get it

Oh gosh - super relatable. Chess has so many ups and downs and it always seems to go down several times just before the huge milestones we hope for lol

I know this sounds ignorant but I swear every time I get to a point where one or two wins will get me to 1600 they put me against these players like 75 points higher than me and the games end up insane and i get frustrated so easily as a result and then I get into time trouble because I'm thinking too much and yeah
Like look at these games
You can see how hard i'm trying to get a win in this one
I can't tell if this one was just blunders but I saw the perpetual check but I didn't want to have to settle for a draw
Apparently in this one I was so close to getting a win but I got flustered under time trouble and lost my advantage, didn't want another draw either
sorry just had to vent a little.
