Worst play - How would an animal play?

For some contrast (see "perfect play"), this thread here is for the worst games.

Not any "bad" games, but hopefully they are so stupid or at least funny somehow - it makes us wonder, and sometimes we are glad we can only lose the full point (=just a loss) and dont get punished for really bad play.

Very bad game, yesterday at the club.

One blunder doesnt make this such a bad game. The game went quiet smothly (appart from the blunder). The defense against Qg3 is very difficult to see. Your opponent played correctly, no weak moves from his side.

It is the result in respect to the rating of your opponent which is disappointing, but even here - a draw is quite alright considering you are the exchange down.

Sometimes draws happen against weaker players, and fortunately it isnt a loss. You need about 4 wins against such weak players to make up for your blunder (or one win against a 80 elo lower rated player). How long will the tournament going to last you currently play?

And how comes you get such a player in round 4. Isnt it swizz-terms, but round robin? If swizz - maybe your opponent isnt so weak, otherwise it is quite strange to see such a player in round 4.

Yeah, it was a strange day. With Stockfish 8, I reviewed the Kupreicik lines and finally I found some nice resources. So I decided to pick up the Scandinavian again and screwed up! It was just hours apart.

...actually - couldnt you have played 15...Nxe5

?

Jaap-Amesz

15.... Nxe5?? blunders a piece.

16 Bxe5, Qxe5

17 Te1 pin

But 15....Nc5 is good. Black is equal. Enough play left to go for a win.

KaG_Moon

Yes, true, simple actually. To my excuse: I mixed the position up, and had already executed O-O and thought somehow it was still black's move. (in this realm of illegal chess, then white's move Qg3 could have been met by ...f6).

Ok, ...Nc5 is good, you are right, but I might have played ...Nf8, simply because it looks more "stupid". (next move would then likely be ...Ne6 or ...Ng6). Then again: ...Nc5 is more "safe" in case I miss something, and thus ...Nf8 would be a violation to my own rule.

The final position, I could imagine your opponent suddenly saw a ghost?

27...Qc5? looks like a strong move at first sight.  Then 28.Qe2 f5 29.fxNe4 f4

and you win back the exchange.

However, he does not need to capture the knight with 29.fxNe4, but could instead play 29.b2-b4. Tricks like 29...Nxc3 wont work: bxQc5, NxQe2, Rxe2.

But he might have seen it wrong, the draw offer sliped his mouth in shock (he felt in a hurry to offer it before you see this, and thus didnt feel like checking it carefully, but was in panic mode you might see ...Qc5?) and thus his draw was due to a blunder in his mind.

Yeah he said he was shaking to much haha so he offered a draw. You can read his comments here: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/2016-11-8-de-ridder-amesz
