Wrap-Up for 1st Tournament and Ideas for 2nd Tournament

Thank you all for playing! Over the 7 tournaments we had 206 players that did more than abort, 230 that entered, and a ton of fun! We shall have a second series of 4pc Fans Arenas, but this time we will include FFA/Solo events. Mostly FFA will be added; I know we are all teams players so let's see what Solo skills you guys have! We are going to throw in some new variant/custom positions. We might keep 1/4 + 0 antichess but this time it will be FFA, not teams. Also, I prefer more arenas but shorter periods. Bullet arenas will be 1 hour max, Rapid 2 hour max, and Blitz 1.5h max. Likely a decathlon!

Yes I’ll include more time zones. More time zones with shorter tourmanents makes more sense. And to discourage people from losing sleep over playing too many tournaments I’ll host 2-3 of the same tournament at different times of the day but only score one towards the Standings.

why would it be casual? tournaments are games too and measures one's ratings if you guys want to separate casual and rated tournaments then i guess? but i dont see how that would work out too well

Jerry, two of the arenas were variants, and peoples ratings are very low in this category, so when people with high ratings are playing underrated players, our ratings tend to tank when we lose. If it is going to be rated, and if their is another variant, then make it different from std. teams, so the people with high ratings have an advantage,

how do u determine if someones underrated. you cant assume someone whos say 2400 at teams will be 2400 at variants and therefore is underrated because they have a 1500 rating

The queenless arena, you are 1800 in variants? And you love no queens, so it gives us a disadvantage in this mode. You beat me once, I lost 27, then when e4 and I beat you, we only got 10

I was going to say I can create several tournaments of the same category, some casual, and some rated, and score based on the higher of the two of those. But some prefer rated; I prefer rated even when I lose 27.

Example:

”No queens, F U J arena, 08:00 am 05/10/2020 Rated”

”No queens, F U J arena, 08:00 am 05/10/2020 Casual”

Both happen at the same time. J plays both with scores of 40 for the rated, and 28 for the casual. The score of 40 will count towards the standings.

lol luke the no queens, f u j arena? i wonder who its about. But splitting it between rated and casual will decrease the amount of games going on, is that something we want to do to satisfy a few people?

Rules for scoring:

For multiple arenas of the same type during the same day, score the highest.

For 1/15D and similar, multiply by 2.

For 1/5 and similar, multiply by 1.

For 1/1 and similar, multiply by 0.5

for 1/2+ 0 and similar, multiply by 0.2

for 1/4 + 0 or 1/10 and 0, multiply by 0.1

More than likely going to start it up the coming weekend, but there may be the Solo Championship Finals.
