Update:  The May 4th meeting has been cancelled due to another activity taking place at the Wyomissing Library.

The May 18th meeting is still on.  After that, no meetings are scheduled for June, but the club will resume in July.

Christopher, thank you for this information!  I had no idea that the Wyomissing Library chess club was (prior to Covid-19) still in existence.  To the best of my knowledge, it was started close to 10 years ago by a parent who had multiple kids on the school's chess team.  As those kids (and their friends) got older, moved away from chess into other activities and eventually graduated, I figured the chess club would have just faded away.  I am pleasantly surprised if that is not the case, or if the club was subsequently revived by someone else.

I am not at all surprised that Covid has caused a complete shutdown of all library activities, in the interest of public safety.  However I would be interested in hearing more about the chess club:  What days does it meet (assuming the schedule will continue as before whenever the pandemic subsides) and what do they do.  As you can see from my posts in 2013, back then the club met twice per month on Saturday mornings for casual, friendly play.

I guess we'll have to wait until the Library fully reopens to find out. I haven't seen much on the Calendar section of the library's website in recent months, But searching through it, I see they last met in April of 2016.

If they last met in 2016, I'd guess that is likely around the time when the kids whose parents began the club graduated and/or lost interest.  So I'd guess the club won't resume unless someone else restarts it.  But I guess we'll see.
