Hi, I'm André. I have been playing chess since I was a child, but I truly immersed myself in the game almost ten years ago, in 2015. For the past five years, I've been coaching chess in my free time, sharing my passion and knowledge with students. My peak rating on Chess.com is 2103, a testament to my dedication throughout those years.

My Coaching Approach: I believe in a balanced approach that includes understanding chess principles, mastering tactical motifs and themes, and grasping strategic concepts. I emphasize the importance of enjoying the game, being patient, and practicing regularly. In my experience, there is no such thing as "I am bad at chess"; there's only a need for patience, enjoyment, and consistent practice.
As a self-taught player, I've utilized the wealth of online resources available today. I love to share these materials with my students, helping them learn from the greats of the chess world. Chess is not just a game; it's a science and an art, and I aim to instill this appreciation in my students.
Who I Teach: I specialize in coaching beginners with ratings between 0 and 1750, helping them learn how to improve their game independently. I am fluent in Portuguese and English, and I can also teach in spanish or French. My lessons are flexible and can be conducted on various platforms, including Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or directly on Chess.com—whatever works best for you!
Lesson Rates: €10 per hour. Discount for a package many hours booked in advance. Reduced rates available for group classes.
