Sportsman Chess Club

The newest chess club in Kent.  Meeting on the first and third Mondays of the month, in the award winning pub The Sportsman at Seasalter near Whitstable, you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. Fun or serious?   We do both.  Friendly club games are played at every meeting, with support and encouragement all the way. Want to take the next step?  As a club participating in county tournaments we offer you the opportunity to test your skills against experienced players under tournament conditions.  Be careful though.  You’ll become addicted! Worried about age or ability? Don’t be.  Our members include juniors and “mature” players.  Our club policy is that everyone helps everyone else.  So you’ll always be part of a team. We offer a fun and family friendly environment suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. In chess, practice doesn’t necessarily make perfect, but that’s the beauty of the game.  With regular play and team support you’ll be amazed at the progress you will make. Coaching is available from our most experienced tournament player.  But be warned, you'll find his enthusiasm totally contagious!
