Vote Chess Guidelines

Our team Vote Chess games allow 3 days for us to make a move. Our method for each day is:

Search for all candidate moves.
Analyze candidates and discard unsuitable ones.
Vote for the best one.

Day 1 - Search for all candidate moves - To accomplish this goal we must submit candidate moves within the game forum ("Team Comments"). In general, during the 1st day (first 24 hours) we submit and suggest all candidate moves, plans, and strategies. Moves can be submitted from inspiration, experience, books, articles, videos, databases, etc. Chess engines, however, are not allowed in Vote Chess games! Archived computer games are also not allowed according to Chess.com's definition of cheating.

Day 2 - Analyze candidates and discard unsuitable ones. The 2nd day (next 24 hours) are for the subsequent analysis, discussion, evaluation, and appraisal of those candidate moves, plans, and strategies submitted by the members of the team.

If you see a foolish move or blunder being suggested by another team member please be courteous, respectful, and constructive in your appraisal of the move. Starting or participating in a "flame-war" will get you removed from the group.

Please do not use computer analysis for our chess games. Do not cheat! It much more preferable and productive to lose honestly and learn something than it is to win dishonestly and learn nothing.

Day 3 - Vote for the Best Move - The 3rd day (last 24 hours) are reserved for double-checking previous analysis and choosing the best listed candidate. Votes are far more effective when saved until the final 24 hours since flaws could be found in earlier or previously posted analysis. Vote only for moves that have been discussed or, at least, mentioned. If you must vote early for personal reasons there is nothing to prevent you from doing so. However, please do not mention it or post the votes before the 24 hours. It will encourage others to vote early unnecessarily.

Following these 3 logical steps will lead to productive discussions, greater learning, and ultimately to victory.

Vote Chess games instructions:

To check your VC games hover [Home] select [Vote Chess] from the drop down menu and a list of your games will appear, arranged according to time remaining.
When a new VC game is started you will receive an alert from chess.com staff. Click on [Go to the Game]. This will open the "Public" game page. Both teams can view the "Public" page. Do not discuss our game plans there. To join the game click [White or Black] in the upper right corner. When joining a new vote game tick [x] Notify me of new comments near the bottom of the page or simply submit a comment and it will be done automatically. This will ensure that you will receive alerts when it is our turn and it will also enable the [new comment alert] on your home page. If you submit a comment in the discussion forum at any time, that action automatically enables alerts for the remainder of that game.

If you become angry and decide to leave the game or if you should accidentally click on [Leave Game] you will see a confirmation pop up which will give you a second chance to stay in the game (suggested). If you still choose to leave; that action is irreversible.

Please show respect for your team mates and keep the language clean.
