¡Este es un Torneo "sin vacaciones"!

This is the official 2018 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship. Participants will play 22 games at one time (one as Black, one as White per opponent) at the time control of one day per move in 12-player sections. Please anticipate the challenging schedule. Only the section winner advances.

This tournament is expected to take approximately 1.5 years to complete (give or take a millenia tongue.png). To ensure that the field is not waiting indefinitely for a small selection of games to finish, games over 70 moves may be adjudicated by staff.

Opening databases and opening books are permitted in Daily Chess, but the use of engines and tablebases is never permitted. All section winners will be subjected to fair-play analysis.

Post your most interesting games in the comments or tweet them with the #dailychesschamps, and we'll publicize the best ones!

2018 Daily Chess Championship Starts Tomorrow! Some Notes

SamCopeland | 31 dic. 2017 13:47

Hello everyone  It's thrilling to see such interest in the 2018 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship. We currently have over 7,000 players, approaching three times as many players as the previous largest tournament on Chess.com!

Before we begin, I want to encourage everyone to consider the challenging schedule carefully. All players will 22 games at a rate of one day per move. That means that once your opponent moves, you have 24 hours to respond. There is no vacation time in this tournament so once 24 hours pass without a move, the game is immediately forfeited. This is a rigorous and challenging format that is certainly not a good fit for everyone. If any players wish to withdraw, we understand entirely. You may do so by selecting the "Withdraw" option on the top right of the tournament page.

We encourage those who wish to play a tournament but find this format a bit too demanding to check out the many other tournaments and formats at chess.com/tournaments. There's something for everyone

Start Time: The tournament is scheduled to start at midnight Pacific Time. Don't worry if the tournament takes some time to create all the games.

Prizes: Rather than wait for the tournament to complete, we will award prizes for play during the tournament  Post your interesting games, combinations, checkmates, etc. in the comments on the tournament page or tweet them at @chesscom with the #dailychesschamps. We'll share the most interesting moments, and the winners will receive three-month diamond memberships.

Fair Play: All section and prize winners will be subjected to fair-play analysis. Please know that Chess.com policy prohibits public accusations on our site. If you suspect fair-play violations during your game, you may report abuse of any form here. We will consider all reports carefully.

Managing The Game Load: Some players have already made excellent suggestions in the comments regarding managing the game load and avoiding time forfeits. Here are some:

  • Set a timer to check your daily chess games twice a day and respond to any games for which you have less time than the amount of time before you next check your games.
  • If you typically play on desktop, download our apps so you can make moves on the go.
  • On the desktop, you may use the "conditional moves" feature to premove intended responses like recaptures.
  • null
  • On the desktop, you can save your notes and analysis, avoiding the need to recall these once it is your move again.
  • null
  • Don't be a perfectionist  With 22 concurrent games, mistakes will happen. Stressing out too much over the quality of play is sure to lead many to forfeit games on time.

We wish you all the best and hope you all have a blast!

PS: We've seen many excellent feature suggestions regarding additional possible formats, time controls, and features. It's not possible to implement these for this tournament, but we really appreciate all the great ideas put forward, and we hope to implement some of these by the time the 2019 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship is ready to start
