future indian in chess elite

for the last 20 years India has had only one player in the worlc chess elite - (top 20).

Once he leaves the scene maybe in 5-6 years, do you see any other indian being among the chess elite?

I dont think sasikiran and harikrishna are going to do it - basically if you dont hit the top tier within 5-7 years of becoming GM you never will.

So who - Parimarjan Negi and Abhijit Gupta? Usually junior world champion is a strong indicator of future prominence

Anand has been a flag bearer for decades and its unfortunate that there is no other Indian in Top 10-20 (or >2700).

Negi is rising pretty fast, but Harikrishna is the closest.
