Day 3 of the Nanjing Pearl Spring Tournament. Magnus is leading the event by a half point and he is the first game of Round 3 that has been finished. Once again, all games are pulled from Fritz 12 and playchess.com.

Today, Magnus had white against Yue Wang(B), China's #1 player. Here is the game:

Today's featured game is Topalov(W) vs. Anand(B). It is the first time these two great players have met OTB since the World Chess Championship Match in Sofia earlier this year. It is the most anticipated game of this event, and since it is double round robin, we get another chance later on in this tourney to see them head to head.

The other two games are still in progress and will be posted when finished.

Too simple for Magnus after queen trade.

The second game of the Nanjing tourney has ended. It is the long awaited Anand(W)/Topalov(B) showdown, and to no surprise, Topalov falls short again.

One more game to go for the day and that is Gashimov(W)/Bacrot(B), which will be posted once finished.

So, three games, three distinct results. Things are getting a little bit more interesting in Nanjing. I will get the standings up as soon as possible. Enjoy. Smile

looked like a relatively easy day for Carlsen and Bacrot. Topalov really got himself in trouble quickly, probably c5 or Rc1. then oh my goodness did Anand ever beat on him! fun day!
