Another new day, another event update. Remember, all PGNs come from through Fritz 12 via playchess.com

Round 4 of Nanjing is well on the way but already there is a finished result to post.  Topalov(W) vs. Wang(B) has concluded after 35.Kg2, and we have another draw. Here it is:

Gashimov(W) vs. Carlsen(B) and Bacrot(W) vs. Anand(B) are still being contested and both games are just now getting into the 2nd time stage, so it might be a while before they are finished. But when they are, they will be posted.

The second game has been completed as Bacrot, in my eyes, has just scored an upset by defeating current World Chess Champion Vishy Anand. Here is the game:

I was surprised when Anand resigned. He a had a mini pawn wall going on and seemed to be pressing Bacrot back with it. But what do I know? I'm not World Champion, just a patzer from N.J. Laughing

Ok everyone. The day's games are over with the finishing of the Gashimov/Carlsen game. This game went into the final time stage and from what I have seen, is one of the longest, perhaps *THE* longest game of the tournament so far. After 76.Ke4, a draw was finally decided. Gashimov was pushing passed pawns and Magnus was pushing one down the a-file, but the white and black rooks were picking them off like stray birds falling behind from the flock.  Here is the game:

Standings will be posted once I get them completed. Cool

Tick-toc

I was watching the games. It's a pity that Anand went 35. ... Rc1?!  instead of 35. ... Rh1!  practically forcing  36. h3  after which the rook can shuttle back to the c1 square. With the pawn structure fixed it's possible that Anand might have salvaged a draw.
