Hello, with great pleasure I have followed the discussion on the good old soviet tournament sets - I myself own 4 of them and here they are:
A very usual set used in the 70ties in high events, black knights come with a little bit broader plastic heads, but that does not really disturb:
Next type from 1983 is a rarity because of the all wooden knights - it was often sold with ugly white plastic knights. Used f.e. in USSR team championships then.
Next set (1979) is very close to those used in world championship matches and USSR championship finals in the 60ties. Knights have plastic heads, but the wood colour of the white ones is not so badly imitated.
Last set is a souvenir from former Leningrad 1982 (Gostinny dvor!). Pieces are not weighted, wooden knights at least. Simply customed, but used in events in asian and caucasian republics, which could be seen in soviet chess periodicals.
By the way I use them all most with the well known original soviet foalding board (50 mm squares). Hope you'll enjoy!
Regards Michael
