Pixel, somehow I missed your post.
A typical problem for a chess collector? Plus a problem related to four cats!
I guess I could write an update to the whole situation.
The found a home for the two cats. The cute cat I posted a picture passed away, an accident. My wife and I didn't really recover from this loss- we loved this cat, it was the most lovely, loyal and beautiful cat we ever had.
We began to sold our chess collection before we found a new home. Actually we sold a lot of things, as I had a lot of things. The selling turned to a kind of business. I still have several chess items, but some of the most valuable things are gone. I just tried to keep some of the sets. Two of my chess clocks were identified as very rare clocks used in the chess Olympics in 1935. Both clocks are now in two different collections.
Our new home is very close to the old one. It is at the neighbour building, and I could carry the things over, no need for a truck.
We are now in the new apartment since two days. I am still paying rent for the old flat, as we need time to move all our things. The new apartment is almost minimalistic compared to the old one. The biggest change is related to the fact that we reduced a lot the books we will keep in the apartment. Instead of 10 k we will have perhaps 2 or 4 thousands book's. Many books we sold, most we just gave away. Many we will keep in a hobby room.
We still have enough chess items of a certain quality. I will perhaps display some of them in the new apartment. I will post some pics in the next weeks.
This might not be a solution for the cats, but in a pinch it may be a viable - if temporary - alternative: https://www.myplace.ch/z%C3%BCrich-binz
