I took the plunge on thursday and bought it. Its by far the most expensive book ive ever bought. My first impression is 'WOW' its huge! 800+ pages, more games than i think i will ever manage to consume, really well made. Has anyone already got this one ? is it as good as it looks? here is a link to the book http://www.mcfarlandpub.com/book-2.php?id=978-0-7864-0117-8

2543 games? Wow, I have been looking for another Alekhines book which is OUP. I might have to rob a bank and get this one instead.

$125 ! wow that is a lot of money for a book  and strangely the author is a marine scientist.

Yes I bought through Amazon sometime back, great hardcover book, well made should last forever if it's looked after. A must have for any Alekhine fan a superb games collection. Even though I'm not a huge fan of his in terms of playing style, I rate myself as more positionally orientated and prefer the slower play of players like Capa, Karpov and Kramnik as I'm a keen collector of chess books especially games collections I felt it deserved a place on my book shelf. I wasn't disappointed however I can appreciate it was expensive but I've spent more on a chess book before. Basically any book produced by MacFarland is top quality, I've got several of them.
