An English Language Classic on Soviet Chess

Over the years, many of us have posted photos of our Soviet and Russian sets and clocks. D. R. Richards authored a real classic on the subject of Soviet Chess in 1965 titled Soviet Chess: Chess and Communism in the U.S.S.R.  It's a rich and thoughtful treatment of an important subject. My only criticism is that the book lacks photos.

Very, very cool. A quick online search reveals only 1 used copy on amazon for 50 dollars US. Looks like a book I would like to read someday. It combines two interests of mine.

Glad you like it. You might be able to find it cheaper from independent dealers. Perhaps a general Google search if you haven't yet done one.

Oh i have been looking around. Found one other (maybe the same source) for 50. Also may look at interlibrary loan.

Cgrau, thanks for reminding me of this great book, my copy lacks the dust jacket, I think it is time to give another read.
