Gone off the German set now lol. Had a search on sold sets on eBay and wasn't keen.

I have to agree with Michael. Chavet sets are just beautiful and the B200 goes for very little money on eBay especially since you are in the UK where most Chavet sets seem to be. Here is one for 19.99 GBP. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334102960092?hash=item4dca1697dc:gnervous.pngscAAOSw88hhDBeq. It is unweighted and unfelted but it is beautiful. It comes with a newer box but older label and older model reference number. It is located in the UK and shipping to the US is 3x the cost of the set. You're in the UK so you won't have to worry about that.

Is this the same set?

I have it in my Watch list. Was hoping there would be no bids but there's 1 bid on it. I usually leave it till very last seconds then bid but can't go too high.

Any suggestions what a reasonable bid would be in UK £'s for this set?

This is the one I have in my watch list.

I'll let you know know how I get on but imagine I'll be outbid but you never know with these things do you.

'It comes with a newer box but older label and older model reference number'

Why is that? I don't understand.

MCH818

@QueenClaudia I have no idea about the value. I usually just pay the amount I feel comfortable paying even if it is more than it is worth. Good luck on the auction.

Sorry Claudia! I just saw this. I was about to post about the auction we were discussing. I don't know why I didn't respond yesterday. The newer boxes have the Chavet Chess logo on them. The older ones have Henri Chavet. The newer labels are white and have Chavet Chess on them. The newer labels use the newer reference numbers starting with a 1 or 2. The older labels are gold. Some have Henri Chavet on it while others have Chavet Chess on it. The older labels use older reference numbers starting with a "B" such as B200, B207, etc. The one you are looking at has a newer box with Chavet Chess on it with an older gold label that states Chavet Chess and older B200 reference number. All of these factors are used to gauge how old the box might be which could indicate how old the set might be. However, sometimes the sets come with the wrong boxes, so you need to look at the design of the set as well. I hope that makes sense.

Btw, there are now 3 bidders on the set. I hope you are one of them. Good luck with auction.

QueenClaudia2003

Thanks for that explanation. I really must dig a notebook out!

The set is now at £31 with 3 bids and 2 hours to go unfortunately I'm not one of them.

I had set my limit at £31 so won't be bidding but will let you know what it goes for.

Congratz! You got them for 31 pounds!

It wasn't me who won it.

I checked on here couple of hours ago and it was on £31 so decided not to bid as didn't want a bidding war and had feeli g it probably wasn't the bidders top bid anyway.

Oh well onwards and upwards!

QueenClaudia2003

Tell you what though, good estimate of yours!

TheOneCalledMichael

Oh yeah I deleted that post, I thought you won since you set your limit at 31. I didn't read that well lol.

Thank you! So what did I win with my guessing? happy.png

QueenClaudia2003

You win my admiration lol!

TheOneCalledMichael

I'll take that happy.png

@QueenClaudia2003 Oh well! At least you didn't go over your limit.

@TheOneCalledMichael +1 on what Claudia said about the price.
