Thanks, Chuck enjoyed the stroll through Chess History with the pictures. Great chess games with the giants.
Thanks, Mike!

Yes, I agree with Mr. West; the interweaving of Olympic games, iconic photos and your vintage set is a nice touch.
Thanks, Bob!!
Thanks for posting those Chuck. Is that set a repro or does it date back to the 60's?
There appears to be a mistake in post #34 which shows the final standings though. It shows England as coming in last place - that must be a mis-print or something, right?
Thanks again for your excellent posts on these historical sets. I'm sure they will be enjoyed not only by all of us now senior players, but future generations as well. 👍
The knights look hyperalert, which is an appropriate warning to players about their often surprising or disturbing capabilities.

LOL. Sadly, it's no misprint. But the set is from the sixties.

I agree!
Thank you for your excellent post, Chuck! It has gone a bit quieter here in the "Equipment" forum, but I miss posts like this! So thank you very much! I enjoyed the interleved design and loved to see the photos and games matching, like in the Fischer-Tal battle in the good old Winawer! Being from Germany and being an avid chess player you might have thought I knew about the Bayerwald set. But far from it- we always use these "German Knight Sets" you can buy from any online seller anywhere in the world at our club. But you might be interested to know that I still recognised the set instantly because the old plastic pieces we use for our training matches seem to be replications of this set. Looking almost exactly like the set Noblestone posted. Additionally you might be interested to know that Raj Tischbierek will join us at our club for a day to celebrate the clubs anniversary! We are really looking forward to that evening.
Not that it would be particularly interesting what I have written, but I am always interested in different cultures and love to know these things about chess in different countries. So I thought you might be interested as well.:-)

Vielen Dank, Paul! Kennst du Holger Langer? Er mag Schachfiguren und wohnt auch in Hamburg.

Unfortunately not. Do you know whether he plays for a certain club?
This is a terrific series of posts. Interleaving the photos with the games brings the whole event to life. The Soviet team had an amazing lineup! Great job Chuck.
Many thanks, Ron!
