I guess it would have to depend on the situation.
A set to leave out at home - what is good for me and my setting might not be as perfect for someone else. I have an unweighted Dubrovnik from RCM, and a Dubrovnik style board from the same maker that I like a lot but is a little big (57mm squares) to leave out on my kitchen table. There are other sets I have that do just as well with that board. I also have a 14inch magnetic board with 3 inch kings that is basically perfect as a 'library' type set.
A set to travel with. I have the world chess travel set. It's very good.
A set to bring to the pub. The Regency 14inch board or the world chess travel set, or depending on venue I have an A&A weighted set that packs away with a silicone board. I tend to bring that one away on vacation.
