I’m reading Winning Chess Tactics by Yasser Seirwan. What book should I read next? Any recommendations for beginners?

Hmmm I have a couple of books in mind. First, forget about learning openings for now, instead just play principled moves according to the fundamentals of chess. There are several videos on YouTube about this. As for books, I recommend starting with Peter Giannatos' "Everyone's First Chess Workbook", and second would be the "Checkmate Patterns Manual" by Raf Mesotten. These things will give you everything you need to get a good start in the game.

If at all possible, look for a chess club in your area that you can join, and I am sure you will find people willing to help you in learning the game. An added bonus is that you might just make some lifelong friends.

I second Walrus´s suggestion. Logical Chess - Move by Move is one of the best and most inspiring chess books ever written. Follow it up by reading The Golden Dozen by the same author that also conveys a lot of the games modern history (up to Fischer).

Simple Chess: A great explanation of strategy, making it very easy to understand. You have it on YT as well: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUrgfsyInqNbkyiwPSSBQ6ALkkccKItPE

There's a school of thought that says that beginners ought to start learning endings first. To that end, here's an homage to @Walrus-76 post with Averbakh's Chess Endings and my ICC Averbakh set.

I'd recommend reading the whole "Winning Chess" series by Yasser.

Irving Chernev's "Logical Chess: Move by Move" is also excellent, and a must-read.

"Chess: The Art of Logical Thinking" by Neil McDonald is fabulous, too (it's an annotated game collection like "Logical Chess", but with more modern games from the 1980s to the 2000's, from players like Polgar, Anand, Kasparov, etc ...).

A beginner-friendly book of tactical puzzles is also something I'd strongly recommend searching for. Having a book of quality tactics to pull out and solve at a glance is great for improvement.
