I believe that new GothamChess book is intended for beginners. I haven't read it, but the ratings on Amazon average 5 out of 5 stars, which is impressive with so many (over 1,000) reviews. But he does have a cult (an army) of followers who probably skew the ratings with perfect scores, so I don't know how good it actually is.

But maybe it's worth checking out. If you do, let us know your thoughts!

Winning chess strategies by yasser seirawan. I bought and studied that book and went from 1370 to close to 1500 in a month. If you benifit from that book, later you can also study how to reassess your chess by silman. Both books are based on same concept although seirawan book is more beginner friendly.

@#2 - It seems you've confused Spongey (who closed his account several years ago) with RussBell's books lists (above).

WiChessQueen

The Winning Chess series by Yasser Seirwan is good for beginners.
