can anyone give me some information on this book? i'm finding it very hard to find out anything about it online, it's recommended by yusupov in build up your chess vol 1 but i know nothing about it other than that.

I did read it & liked it a lot. The cheapest copy at amazon is $24 and I didn't like it that much, you could spend the money on some other book or books instead that would also be entertaining and instructive.

thanks, but that doesn't really anyswer my question. there is a copy on the uk amazon for £3.27, however i found a pdf version online anyway.

Where does he recommend it?

How are you getting on with the book? I got hammered on the 'centralization' chapter exercises.

EDIT: Oh, wrong author.

Neishtadt or Plaskett?

NimzoRoy

The title pretty much says it all. It's a bunch of miniatures annotated to show how the loser went wrong and/or the winner played correctly. I'd recommend it at the UK price but I'm presuming the pdf version is free (and probably an illegal violation of some copyright law)

I'd be curious to know if the pdf version really is free or if you have to join some bogus download service first, I've yet to find a genuinely free chessbook except for those in the public domain - and a lot of the allegedly "free" ones come with added bonuses like malware and viruses.

it's on the bellaire chess club website :O

just noticed this post.

he has a small list of recommended books in the back, this was the only one i didn't know anything about.

i haven't actually started on the book yet, i just downloaded a pdf of it to see what the contents was like. i don't really like working using the computer other than database stuff and online games, so i'm waiting till i get a real copy of the book.

If you're ambitious you can print the book out and bind it, which should be cheaper than buying it I think at least with a laser printer or an inkjet using recycled ink cartridges and of course using double-sided printing. BUT this can be cumbersome so far all my printers have been unable to handle large double-sided print jobs without jamming eventually, so it's safer to do several pp at a time.

Immryr

i'd rather just buy the book i think.
