Thank you for this info!

Is it really worth it?

It’s hard to see how this is worth it… especially given the number of great sets at much more affordable prices

Obviously something is worth it if someone is willing to buy it and wants it badly enough. I totally understand it.

The way I see it(only me) is if you get a quality/well made set,the "wood" doesn't know if it's vintage.

I agree w/ that comment about the queen's ball. I think the smaller one is more preferable.

Just a photo to bounce on the different queens that Chavet has made. This game dates from 1986-1988. I hope to have more time to post more photos. And, beyond the price, it's worth it ;-)

I also found it strange, but since I found several, also in size 5... I understand that there was therefore a transition model, inspired by the size 8 queens of the same period. 80-90

I'm not going to argue about the "equals" sign. Both respect the rules of movement of a knight... as for what a Chavet is capable of making you feel, I really feel autistic for the charm of a "german knight". Zero connection.

The German knight is a weak and flabby imitation of the noble Chavet knight — the German night has a short muzzle, skinnier flanks and no character to speak of. Sorry!

TheOneCalledMichael

@Walter There is also this size 6 queen with pointy ball, I believe also from year 2000?

Hear hear! I think Chavet is the people's champ, the ultimate utilitarian set yet beautiful and elegant.
